2022-2023 Season
Anna's Library
In a continuation of The Virtuosa Project, Infusion Baroque presents a new concert in celebration of the 300th birthday of Princess Anna Amalia of Prussia, Abbess of Quedlinberg. Anna Amalia preserved over 600 musical compositions in her library, particulary works by JS Bach and other German 18th-century composers. In fact, her music collection is credited to have sparked the 19th-century revival of Bach's music!
This programme will focus on the collection of works by the Bach family, her relationship with her teacher Kirnberger, and other musicians who served in her court. We will also explore a set of newly discovered and rarely performed fugue sketches by Anna Amalia, and present creative arrangements of well-known pieces. Works by Anna Amalia, JS Bach, CPE Bach, Kirnberger, Schaffrath, Stolzel, and Palestrina.
